BLM Protests - London

Some woman was on lbc this morning talking on behalf of BLM about how defunding the police will work.

It's just really ill informed and nieve.

So apparently if we end poverty, educate and put money into mental health care, we won't need police.
While I don't disagree that those are worthwhile things to do, that won't stop crime.

Ending poverty won't end greed. Not all carer criminals grow up in poverty.

Education will only go so far. Most criminals know what they are doing is wrong they just don't care. We all know we shouldn't speed and why, but many of us do speed.

Its also hugely offensive to blame crime on people with mental health issues. And even if you do commit crime due to MH issues what do they actually think they will do to stop you - if there was a cure to mental health issues, do they not think we would be using it. MH issues are varied and complex, there is no simple fix. Or do they just want to lock people with mental health problems up.

And what about male violence? Pedophiles, rapists. How are you going to educate a rapist not to rape. You can't educate pedophilia out of someone. Men that fight don't usually have mental health problems, its impulse. So how will you stop that.

When the presenter questioned her about terrorists, she claimed you won't get terrorists if we properly fund mental health services and community projects. It's just so nieve. Like if we nice to everyone and give them all the things they want/need, they won't commit crime. Some people are just horrible, you can't make all people nice.

Starmer is so verbal about his previous life as a prosecution whatever, says he supports the police and debunks the 'defund' the police. Then he bends his knee to the very movement that have DEFUND the police as part of their anarchy manifesto.

He appoints a minister who said that white people need to shut up about the grooming gangs for the sake of 'diversity'.

That man is going to become so unstuck that he will fly away.
His term as DPP was a mess. But it was said then that his aim was to enter political circles.

There are a few places in America where the police have given up and left. Those places are now lawless and the people have been left to get on with it. Many crimes being committed, people being killed etc.

Then a blm group wanted to do another protest and asked the police for support to protect them......you honestly couldn't make it up.

Who was she, can you remember? Ill see if I can find it.

While MH needs funding better , it is an understanding of acute MH conditions that is required. It looks a right mix up of words from what you've said.

I also think the messages surrounding 'defund the police' are quite murkey. They're not clear therefore the public aren't clear. If activism is to propagate change, then the alternatives to change need to be offered. Dumping it on the doorstep of health services isnt the answer.

Also, crime is behaviourist, MH is separated from this for a reason. Otherwise we wouldn't have prisons full, people would be in hospital serving secure settings.

Their messages aren't clear. While it looks good at face value and is professionally written (looks like an academic has written their pages) it is clouded in adjectives and long paragraphs rather than here is what we want to achieve and bullet pointed.

He is nice.
He is rather, isn't he :)

Nice smile.......

I saw another video the other day - a group of young black women carrying placards stating that they hated the police and wanting them 'defunded'. They were getting shoved about a bit in a crowd, didn't like it, so went up to a couple of police officers and told them to arrest the 'pushers'. The police ignored them and consequently got spat at and hit with the placards. They were then arrested and were screaming 'racist bastards' as they were dragged away.

I do find these videos amusing while enjoying my morning coffee and a ciggie :p :)

She was on at about 920am with Nick Ferrari. I'll have a look see if I can see her name. She was talking crap. She seemed to think terrorists just need mental health support. She clearly has no idea about terrorism or mental health problems.

Thank you, Malory. Those are bold claims about terrorists.

Anyone starts to think talk shows invite idiots just to get reactions? Same with this morning can't bear Phil, but hey at least people foam and talk about him than just be indifferent about the program. I do turn it on for background noise while I work but goodness they do show some crap.

BLM are just in cloud cuckoo land with their so call manifesto, what serious person actually believes anything they say. Equality is perfectly acceptable as a good thing to aim for, but I do not agree with their methods to achieve it. The rest of it is both silly and dangerous in equal measure.

Those coming up with their ideas really have no idea about real life.

Aw bless. Pure Lady Bountiful. The new intakes of social work and probation students in the 90s were full of these types (I used to work in a specialist library) and honestly they hadn't a clue. Lovely, idealistic, sheltered young people who were lambs to the slaughter.

See, I quite like Keir Starmer. I think he is intelligent, and not as arrogant as Alexander Boris de Pfeffel Johnson.

Intelligence and lack of arrogance seem quite attractive to me in current times.

We (as in the country) are losing a lot of good people at the moment, we need a strong opposition.

Yes, we do certainly need a strong opposition, but it ain't no way going to be the lilly livered Starmer. Unless he gets off that fence.....

Well they want to denounce Jesus as a racist now.

I don't have a religious bone in my body, but even I can see how that is going to upset a LOT of people :)

I'm not entirely sure the next generation of probation and social workers have much of a clue either.

I saw the Jesus thing as well and was a bit confused by it.

BLM want the church to acknowledge the fact that jesus wouldn't have been a white man with blue eyes and blonde hair. So they put up a picture of jesus as a blank man in some church.

But jesus was Jewish. Wouldn't he have been Jewish looking?

It seems like BLM don't have a problem with jesus not being shown to be Jewish, they just have a problem with him not being black - when if anything that makes less sense than him being white. There were fair people in Rome.

Jesus is usually portrayed vaguely Mediterranean looking.

What grinds my gears is that people who object to his portrayal are almost certainly not Christians, or even religious from another faith.
It’s a spiteful ‘cancelling Jesus’ thing and ‘sticking it to whitey’.

I really want leaders who can just say ‘Fuck off’ to all this billshit.

Jesus christ (no pun intended) are these people on glue?

We are halfway through 2020 and I feel like I've lost the plot.
