Did anyone else read these - Deptford Mice, Whitby Witches series? I’ve got my old copies in my bedroom (my dad still had them and I took them away with me last I visited) and I’m dithering over whether to keep them for my two boys or not. I remember most of the children in my class being really into them in Year 6 and I do remember enjoying reading them but they’re very dark and I went off them eventually after reading The Oaken Throne, which was a bit too grim for me. Eldest is 8 and they’re far too scary for him.

I didn't read them, or remember them. Point horror was my era. I was going to read one again to see what I think of them now, but I've got the Gone series coming instead.
